The Aurland shoe has been made since the 1930s and The Aurland Shoe is now the only manufacturer of this traditional Norwegian footwear, now available in many styles.
In the summer of 2009, The Aurland Shoe opened an exhibition centre for their shoe production based on the Canadian Économusée concept. This visitor centre tells you about the history and skills involved, shows you the whole process from leather to finished shoe, and lets you meet the shoemaker.
You can also buy a pair of high-quality shoes from the factory outlet.
Free entry for individuals and small groups.
Guided tours for groups (min. 12 pers.) are available on request.
