The Hjørundfjord is surrounded by steep mountains that rise vertically up from the fjord with peaks stretching 1700 meters above sea level. The fjord divides the Sunnmøre Alps into two with small villages along the fjord on both sides, some without road connection. Some of these places are still untouched and have kept its authenticity, since the boat has been the only transportation for the people living here for centuries.

The fjord cruise is a picturesque transport leg in the core of the Sunnmøre Alps, between Ålesund and Øye where you have the opportunity to jump on or off in Trandal. Christian Gaard Bygdetun at Trandal has in recent years become one of the most spectacular and most visited music festival scenes in Western Norway. Major international and national artists such as The Blues Brothers and Adam Douglas have been seduced by the mighty landscape and the atmosphere of Trandal and continue coming back year after year.

Fjord Cruise Hjørundfjord is an excellent hub when exploring the region; whether you are traveling to or from Geiranger, city hiking in the beautiful Jugendstyle city of Ålesund or check in for a few days at the historic and legendary Øye Hotel Union. In the Øye area you can, for example, explore ruins of underwater farms in Norangsdalen in the summer or spend lazy days by the fjord with the fishing rod.

The Sunnmøre Alps is an Eldorado for the off-piste or mountain climber enthusiast, the exerciser and the bon vivant with a host of possibilities for spectacular nature and cultural experiences summer and winter, whether at the seaside, in the city or in the inner part of the fjords.
